Dr Victor Gao is Chairman of the China Energy Security Institute and Vice Chairman of Sino-Europe United Investment Corporation. He is also a current affairs commentator with CCTV News. He has extensive working experience in diplomacy, law, securities regulation, investment banking, private equity, corporate management and charity. He was an interpreter for Deng Xiaoping and other Chinese leaders in the 1980s, and worked with the Chinese Foreign Ministry, the UN Secretariat and the Securities and Futures Commission of Hong Kong. He held senior positions with Morgan Stanley, China International Capital Corporation, Daiwa Securities, PCCW, Henderson Group and CNOOC Limited. He also holds advisory and board positions with major institutions including Saudi Aramco, MasterCard and Huanxi Media in Hong Kong. He holds a JD from Yale Law School and an MA in political science from Yale Graduate School, an MA in English literature from Beijing University of Foreign Studies, and a BA in English literature from Suzhou University. He is a licensed attorney-at-law in the State of New York.
