Spotlight on Saudi Arabia’s Advanced Manufacturing and Production Centre (AMPC)
Original Editorial

A deep-dive into how the centre is powering the Kingdom’s leap into the global manufacturing and technology arena

Saudi Arabia's industrial strategy is undergoing a fundamental shift from traditional manufacturing to a high-tech, knowledge-based economy. This transformation is spearheaded by the Advanced Manufacturing and Production Centre (AMPC), a flagship initiative launched by the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources in May 2025. More than a physical facility, the AMPC is a strategic hub that integrates technology, cultivates talent and prioritises operational excellence to advance Saudi’s Fourth Industrial Revolution journey.

From Factories to Smart Manufacturing Ecosystems

The AMPC unifies key national industrial programmes, including the Future Factories Programme, Industrial Beacons Programme and Operational Excellence Program under one umbrella. This consolidation ensures that manufacturers – whether legacy industrial giants or emerging players – have a synchronised route to modernise operations, adopt advanced technologies and benchmark against global best practices.

The centre's core function is to guide Saudi factories in becoming smart manufacturing ecosystems, powered by AI, robotics, the Internet of Things (IoT) and data analytics. This is about more than just automation – it is about creating agile, responsive production systems capable of competing on a global scale.

A Localised Innovation Engine

A central goal of the AMPC is to develop a domestic innovation ecosystem through initiatives like the Innovation Benchmarking Guide. The centre is leading initiatives to localise technologies once imported, reducing supply chain vulnerabilities and creating new export opportunities. A key example is the launch of the Kingdom’s first titanium-powder and pure-metals facility, which is a major step toward positioning Saudi Arabia as a global player in advanced materials for sectors like aerospace and 3D printing.

Saudisation and Industrial Advancement Go Hand in Hand

The AMPC is also focused on nurturing a skilled workforce by functioning as a capability accelerator. Through a network of training and advisory centres, it provides the Kingdom's talent with hands-on skills in Industry 4.0 technologies, digital production and operational optimisation. By aligning industrial advancement with workforce localisation, the AMPC ensures that the growth of Saudi industry directly benefits Saudi nationals.

Aligned with Vision 2030’s Industrial Blueprint

AMPC is a strategic enabler for Saudi Vision 2030 and its role is clear: to serve as the operational engine that propels Saudi Arabia toward becoming a diversified, high-tech industrial powerhouse. Ultimately, it’s the operational engine designed to increase the industrial sector’s GDP contribution, create high-quality jobs and double down on the Kingdom's position as a regional and global manufacturing and technology hub.
